Three options for a holiday on a budget

Read MoreMarmaris is arguably the most popular resort within Turkey for British travellers, who flock in their millions every year to enjoy the Mediterranean sun.
Sitting on the Turquoise coast, Marmaris is a resort where you’ll not only enjoy a fun-fuelled HOT Holiday in the sun, but will also be left wanting to return to do it all again.
Part of the appeal is the weather that, as in other Turkish resorts, is favourable throughout the year. Expect to see temperatures that run into the 30s during the summer months and into the high teens and early 20s during the winter.
With such weather, there are few better things to do than relax on the beach and that’s certainly something you’ll be able to enjoy in Marmaris, with an impressive stretch of volcanic sand that runs along the coast next to the resort.
As well as somewhere to relax, it’s somewhere to have some run in the water, with a bustling promenade alongside where there are plenty of bars and cafes to pick up refreshments.
Should you want to escape the crowds then fear not; there are plenty of smaller beaches nearby where you can have some more peace and quiet.
Away from the beaches, there is plenty more to attract couples and families alike to the resort.
Those with children might enjoy a trip to one of the two waterparks, whilst history buffs can visit the castle that dates back to Ottoman times.
With plenty happening when the sun goes down, the appeal of a break in Marmaris is clear to see. So why not join those who have already uncovered its many delights for your summer break?
Waterpark fun
If you are travelling with kids, or are young at heart yourself, then a trip to one of the two waterparks in the resort is a must. Aqua Dream sits close to the heart of Marmaris and features a range of different slides to suit all ages, with Atlantis (the larger of the two) being located right on the beachfront. As well as the water attractions, the latter also offers bowling and mini golf.
Grand Bazaar
Everyone loves shopping for a bargain and there is plenty of opportunity with a visit to the Grand Bazaar in Marmaris. You’ll probably be surprised at just how much you can purchase across the sprawling market and there are certainly bargains to be had if you’re prepared to haggle on the price.
Marmaris Castle
Take a stroll through the winding streets of the resort to the castle and you’ll enjoy fantastic views out across Marmaris from the castle that overlooks it. Within the castle, which dates back to the times of the Ottoman Empire, there is a museum that helps to showcase the history of the town and surrounding region.
Spend the day as a pirate
The largest pirate ship in Europe can be found in Marmaris, and the Barbosa Marmaris offers a fun-filled day at sea for all the family, with a range of activities onboard to enhance the experience.
Hit the bars
If you want a good night out in Marmaris then Bar Street is the place to go. As the name would suggest, there are plenty of bars where you can listen to live music or dance until the early hours if you so desire.
Dancing fountains
It isn’t just people who dance in Marmaris, with a series of fountains in the heart of the resort that come to life on an evening with a spectacular show set to music. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around where you can watch from.
Dalyan
Located around 90mins away from Marmaris, Dalyan is home to a number of historical sites, such as the rock tombs carved into limestone cliffs along the coastline which can only be viewed by boat.
Cleopatra Island
Also known as Sedir Island, Cleopatra Island can be accessed by boat from Marmaris and is worth exploring on a day out if the opportunity arises. Legend says that Marc Antony and Cleopatra once swam around the island, which is famous for a beach made of seashells.
