Benidorm isn’t just one of the top destinations for a holiday on the Costa Blanca, but also one of the most popular resorts amongst travellers looking to visit Spain full stop.
Sitting on the eastern coast around 90 minutes away from Valencia, the resort has long been popular with British visitors who want to make the most of their time in the sun and it isn’t hard to see why.
For a start, there is the weather, with high average temperatures during the summer months that offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy some fun in the sun.
And there is plenty of fun to be had…
Benidorm is home to some of the best beaches in the area, which run alongside the resort and provide mile upon mile of golden sand. Levante is the most popular, with plenty of space on which to sunbathe and with a range of watersports available in the water off the coast.
It’s a similar situation, albeit on a smaller scale, at Poniente where the calm waters are perfect for families, whilst the small cove at Malpas is a more discrete location in which to top up your tan away from the crowds.
Away from the beach, there is plenty to do for all visitors of all ages, with young and old alike finding something to keep them entertained.
Families might enjoy the chance to visit a theme park, water park, zoo or circus, all of which can be found either in or around Benidorm.
Lovers of history could explore the narrow streets and impressive architecture of the Old Town, whilst there are plenty of options when it comes to picking up souvenirs to take back home – ranging from local markets to big brand stores selling designer gear.
Add into the mix the lively nightlife and it isn’t hard to see why Benidorm is regarded as the Costa Blanca’s party capital. As well as literally hundreds of different bars and restaurants, there are plenty of nightclubs where you can dance until the early hours – catering for families, couples and friends alike.
When you then consider the huge range of accommodation available – which includes everything from budget hotels to five star complexes and private villas – and the wide-ranging appeal of Benidorm is clear to see.
It’s certainly much more than anyone who simply watches the popular TV show may be led to believe…

Things To Do
Benidorm Old Town
Much is made about the many delights of modern day Benidorm but the Old Town is also more than worth a visit during your time in the resort. Take a stroll through the narrow cobbled streets and you’ll be able to visit the various bars that sit within the old white-washed buildings, explore historic sites like San Jamie Church or take a stroll to the Balcon del Mediterraneo for stunning panoramic views of the beaches.
Algar Waterfalls
If you want to spend some time outside Benidorm exploring the sights, then a trip to the Algar Waterfalls provides a chance to spend some time exploring the scenic beauty to be found away from the Costa Blanca coast. The roaring falls sit in a spectacular nature reserve and many of the pools can be used for swimming if you fancy taking a dip.
Terra Natura Park
The Terra Natura Park sits just outside Benidorm and is ideal for some family friendly fun. The park is home to a number of different animals split across four zones and offers the chance to spot the likes of elephants and tigers. There is also a waterpark next door that is suitable for guests of all ages both young and old.
Benidorm Circus
Everyone loves a trip to the circus so the fact that Benidorm has its own permanent attraction provides the chance to catch a show that will entertain the whole family. Expect to be amazed by acrobats, tightrope walkers and the traditional clowns in the Saturday shows that are on throughout the year. Please note that animals are not used in any of the shows.
Aqualandia
Aqualandia is a popular waterpark that is open through the main tourist season in Benidorm – and that offers fun for all the family. Sitting alongside its own hotel, the park is open to non-residents and houses a wide range of attractions that includes one of the highest slides in Europe, a wave pool and a splash zone for youngsters.
Benidorm Palace
There are few better places to be entertained on an evening in Benidorm than at the Benidorm Palace. One of the top party venues in the resort, Benidorm Palace offers the chance to enjoy a top class show that will live long in the memory.
Mundomar
Get close to nature with a trip to the Mundomar Animal Park, which is popular with families who want to give the youngsters an experience they won’t forget in a hurry. Home to a number of different species, the park offers a range of shows and experiences that includes swimming with dolphins or becoming a keeper for the day.
Tapas Alley
There are dining options aplenty in Benidorm but Tapas Alley is the place to go if you want to sample some traditional Spanish fare. Situated in the Old Town, Tapas Alley – as the name would suggest – is packed with bars that offers samples of the best local cuisine.
