Crete is one of the most popular options for a holiday in the Mediterranean, with the largest of the Greek islands welcoming millions of overseas visitors every year.
Like most of the Greek island, Crete benefits from favourable weather conditions throughout the year, making it just as popular during the winter as it is in the height of summer.
With more than 600 miles of coastline, you’ll find plenty of top class beaches – many of which are Blue Flag rated - where you can simply lie back and embrace the sun.

Whilst the beaches are a major draw, particularly in the areas around Chania and Rethymnon, the city of Heraklion – the largest on the island – is packed with historical structures such as the Palace of Minos, Koules Fortress and the city ramparts.
There's also the picturesque villages both along the coast and inland, wide open olive groves and vineyards and stunning mountain ranges, showcasing exactly why Crete is an island where natural beauty and historic relics sit side by side in harmony.
