Carvoeiro is a small fishing village that used to survive on catching tuna. Nowadays it is a thriving tourist resort that attracts lots of visitors and the village only has 2 roads leading into the square. The main beach is a beautiful sandy bay that spreads out in front of the square and is protected by cliffs on either side. Water sports are available on the beach. The local shops tempt tourists with souvenirs and handicrafts made locally.
