St Lucia is one of the most scenic islands in the Caribbean and a true gem for anyone who wants to take their annual HOT Holiday in the region.
A tropical climate makes the island the ideal option for a break throughout the year, with the average temperatures running from the mid-20s upwards and peaking in the 30s from December through to April.
Trade winds will help to keep things comfortable and prevent you from getting too warm, whilst there is the chance of rain during the hurricane season that runs from June to November.
Beach life is a major draw on the island, which is home to some impressive stretches of golden sand. As well as being able to simply lie back and relax in the sun, you can take a refreshing dip in clear blue waters off the coast, enjoy dining on cuisine cooked on beach barbeques or try your hand at a range of watersports around the coast.
But it is the unspoiled beauty of St Lucia as a whole that is the main reason why many people choose to visit for their Caribbean adventure.
Head away from the beaches and you can head deep into verdant green forests or take a trip to the stunning volcanic plugs – Gros Piton and Petit Piton – that tower above the island and have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Pitons can be found close to Soufrière, which is one of the main resorts on the island. Here, you can also visit a popular Botanical Garden, take a tour of a working plantation or head out to Sulphur Springs.
Head for the capital city Castries meanwhile and you could elect to hit the shops in Pointe Seraphine and La Place Carinage or enjoy sampling local cuisine at a range of restaurants.
That’s without even considering the many historical sites that hark back to the islands colonial past – only enhancing why St Lucia is a destination that delivers at every turn.

Basilica of the Immaculate Conception
Situated in the capital city Castries, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is the largest church to be found anywhere in the Caribbean and dates back to the late 1800s. Head inside and you’ll be greeted by stunning artwork and intricate stained glass windows.
Sulphur Springs
Sulphur Springs is regarded as the only ‘drive in volcano’ to be found anywhere in the world and is located near to Soufrière. The nickname comes from the fact that you can drive right up to the edge of the springs, with special viewing platforms from which you could look out across the various hot pools. Away from the main springs, you could even take a mud bath, which is said to held aid a number of different ailments.
Forest adventures
St Lucia is one of the best places to go in the Caribbean if you want to enjoy some fun in the forests, with a number of zip lines that run through the treetops, special cycle paths and ample opportunity to go hiking through the colourful surroundings to explore waterfalls located deep within the forest.
Whale watching
There are plenty of opportunities to go whale watching off the coast of St Lucia, with a series of boating trips being available. You might also be able to spot dolphins swimming in the inviting waters, which attract a wide range of different marine species.
Snorkelling
As well as going out on a boat trip to try and spot whales and dolphins, the coast around St Lucia is a fantastic place to sample snorkeling. If you’re lucky then you might even get to spot turtles as you explore beneath the surface.
Diamond Falls
Regarded as one of the natural wonders of St Lucia, the Diamond Falls comprise of an award-winning botanical garden that is home to a stunning waterfall as well as a selection of hot mineral springs. It’s certainly worth a visit if you find yourself in or around Soufrière.
Rodney Bay
Rodney Bay is a popular option for tourists because of the various restaurants and bars that are located near to an impressive stretch of beach, and also for the retail opportunities provided by two of the largest malls on the island. There is also a casino for those who want to try their luck on the gaming tables.
Pitons
The Pitons are two large volcanic plugs that are located near to the town of Soufrière, and which are recognised as being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Gros Piton stands are more than 2,500ft high with the Petit Piton being slightly smaller. Both are popular with hikers who want to explore the scenic beauty of St Lucia, with the reward for those who make it to the summit being some of the best views in the Caribbean.
