Puerto de Mogan

Puerto de Mogan is another popular resort that sits along the southern coast of Gran Canaria, and is well known for its picturesque surroundings.

In fact, it’s often regarded as one do the prettiest towns to be found anywhere on the island.

Set at the mouth of a steep-sided valley, the resort is seen as one of the prettiest towns in the area where you’ll be able to take a stroll along palm-lined streets, relax on the beach or sit down to dine in first class restaurants.

Around an hour from the airport, Puerto de Mogan isn’t too far in terms of the transfer at the end of your flight and will provide the chance to enjoy the best of the Canarian weather.

That means year-round sun and relatively low levels of rain, even if you decide to travel in the depths of winter.

The wide-open beach is one of the main selling points of the resort, with the bay being sheltered by the surrounding cliffs.

As well as being a great place to take in the sun, the beach is lined by a promenade that houses various bars, cafes and restaurants.

Aside from relaxing on the beach, those on holiday in Puerto de Mogan could head for the harbour to book a cruise out to sea, with the opportunity to marvel at the local marine life or to try your hand at deep sea fishing.

A weekly market is the place to go if you want to grab a bargain to take back home, whilst for some, the chance to take a stroll around the streets and amongst the network of canals that have led to the resort being given the name ‘Venice of the Canaries’ is an experience in itself.

Whilst it isn’t the kind of resort where you’ll be dancing the night away in a nightclub, Puerto de Mogan is home to a variety of bars in which you can kick back with a drink on an evening – with many providing live music.

There is also a myriad of different restaurants that provide the chance to sample a varied range of cuisine, with seafood being something of a speciality.
