Travel to Pineda de Mar with us

Pineda de Mar might not be the first place that comes to mind when considering a break in the Costa Brava region of Spain, but it might actually provide the perfect option for your HOT Holiday in the sun.

Despite being little over half an hour away from Barcelona, the resort is the ideal option for a relaxing break in the sun without some of the crowds that are to be found elsewhere.

That’s not to say that Pineda isn’t a bustling resort in its own right, with plenty to see and do both within the resort itself and also in the surrounding area.

As with other coastal resorts, part of the appeal of Pineda de Mar is the fact that you can expect to encounter favourable weather conditions no matter what time of year you travel.

During the summer months, the average temperature will run into the high 20s and there will be little in the way of rain, whilst the winter months throw up the chance of shower but still feature temperatures that can run into the 20s.

Another major draw, perhaps unsurprisingly once again, is the fact that Pineda de Mar is packed with top quality beaches.

The main beach alongside the resort runs for some 3km, with plenty of golden sand on which to lie back and relax in a sunlounger and top up your tan. The gently sloping beach is also idea for those with children who want to take a dip in the water, which is both calm and welcoming in equal measure.

If the main beach is deemed to be a bit too large, then a short trip along the coast is Sant Pol, which sits in a small bay and is lined by sand dunes.

After a day relaxing on the beach, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to sit back with a cold drink and enjoy an evening meal in one of the various bars and restaurants that can be found across the resort; offering the chance to sample all manner of cuisine.

Take a stroll through the streets and you’ll also find a selection of shops and be able to marvel at the impressive architecture that showcases Pineda at its best.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, with day trips to Barcelona being particularly appealing given how close by you are – and also because of how easy it is to access the Catalan capital.

Things To Do

Barcelona

You could easily spend a few days in Barcelona and still not see everything that the city has to offer. With that in mind, if you decide to head for the Catalan capital, you might well want to plan in advance to ensure you squeeze in the things that are on your ‘to do’ list. You might decide to see as much of the city as you can on an open top bus tour, stopping off at famous sites like Park Guell, the Gothic Quarter or the Sagrada Familia, or you might elect to simply stroll through the streets and see where you end up – sampling the dining and shopping options around you as you go.

Lloret de Mar

Pineda de Mar is a relatively low-key option when it comes to evening entertainment but the more bustling resort of Lloret de Mar is only a short distance up the coast. Here you can dance until the early hours in various clubs or enjoy a more relaxed evening visiting the many bars that sit off the main street.

Seek out souvenirs

Everyone enjoys hunting for souvenirs to take back home when they go overseas and a visit to Pineda de Mar provides plenty of opportunity to find a bargain. Every Friday there is a busy market that opens up along the seafront and even on non-market days, there are plenty of quirky little shops and boutiques, many of which sit around the main square.

El Corredor

If you love the great outdoors then a visit to the Montnegre i el Corredor National Park will be particularly rewarding. It provides an interesting alternative to the beaches thanks to rolling hills and green pine trees, with a hike through the impressive landscapes offering the chance to visit a range of historic remains – such as the stunning Hermitage of El Corredor.

Stick with tradition

Pineda de Mar is the ideal place to go on the Costa Brava if you want to see a more traditional side to Spain, and that’s certainly true when it comes to the cuisine. Although you can expect to find dishes from all over the world, it’s the opportunity to sample top quality tapas and local seafood paella that you won’t want to turn down.

Santa Maria Church

The Church of Santa Maria in nearby Calella dates back to the 16th century and is a fine example of Baroque architecture. If you want to explore the history of the area then it’s somewhere that should certainly be on your list.
