One of the larger Thai islands, Phuket is home to mile-upon-mile of impressive coastline, ranging from the bustling resort of Patong to the more serene and peaceful offerings such as Kamala, where you can relax with a massage alongside the unspoilt sand.
Patong is also a great place to embrace the nightlife on offer on a trip to Phuket, with the island being one that burst into life when the sun goes down.
With a huge number of bars and restaurants, there is something to cater for all tastes – from those who want to dance until the early hours to those who want to sit back with a drink and listen to some live music.
Away from the beaches, Old Town Phuket is well worth a visit if you want to examine the history of the island with impressive old buildings that show the influence of the European and the Chinese – including stunning mansions that were once the home of Phuket’s tin barons.

Head into some of the forested areas of Phuket and you can try your hand at ziplining through the treetop canopy. There are various different places where you can give it a go and if you’re an adrenaline junkie then it’s something that is certainly worth considering.
Watersports
The coast around Phuket is fantastic for watersports, with diving being particularly popular in the clear blue waters. It doesn’t matter if you are an expert or novice, there are diving schools who can cater for all levels.
Old Phuket
Packed with character, Old Phuket is a great place to go if you want to embrace the history of the island, with many shrines and temples sitting alongside buildings that have more than a hint of European influence on them from years gone by.
