If you want your HOT Holiday to be a laid back affair in the Mediterranean sun, then you could certainly do a lot worse than to head for Perissa.

Sitting on the southeast coast of Santorini, Perissa – like many resorts on the island – provides a picturesque base from which to explore, with white-washed buildings at every turn and impressive views of the surrounding landscapes.

Still a relatively new resort, Perissa is home to one of Santorini’s best beaches, with an impressive stretch of volcanic sand on which to relax.

The crystal clear waters off the coast are equally as impressive and are perfect for a touch of snorkeling so you can admire the marine life underneath the surface.

Alongside the beach, the village is home to a selection of bars, taverns and restaurants, but it certainly isn’t the place to go if you’re looking for late night and dancing until the early hours.

Instead, expect a more relaxed vibe where you can relax with a cocktail or beer during the day before listening to live music on an evening.

When it comes to dining, you can enjoy traditional Greek cuisine aplenty – with seafood being particularly popular, especially when accompanied by a locally produced wine.

Limited shopping is available but if you want to pick up souvenirs to take back home, then it isn’t far to the capital Thira with its various boutiques.

Here, you can also take in some of the best views in the island and explore oodles of history amongst the picture postcard white-washed buildings that are known all over the world.

You could also visit the ruins of ancient Thira, which date back thousands of years and are located at the summit of nearby Mount Vouno.
