Read MoreIf you are looking for a luxurious long haul break, then there are few places that can match the Maldives for a dream HOT Holiday in the sun.
Located in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives comprises of a wide-spread network of more than 1,000 islands that cover more than 100 square miles.
Although many of the islands are uninhabited, there are a large number that have been developed to cater for the tourist industry, and now house top quality hotels where you can escape the rat race and enjoy some peace and quiet in the sun.
When it comes to visiting the Maldives, there are distinct seasons when you can expect to find better weather; something you might want to bear in mind when booking your break.
The tropical climate that affects the islands means the best time to visit is during the early part of the year, when temperatures are at their highest but a sea breeze will stop it from being uncomfortable.
Should you be looking towards the islands in the North East of the archipelago, then monsoon season arrives between November and April, whilst the South West gets similar weather from May to October.
As you would expect, sharp showers are a feature in the monsoon season, although the warm temperatures mean that the rain can soon clear.
When it comes to a trip to the Maldives, the main decision is deciding where you want to go and what you want to do.
The various different resorts sit on their own private islands across the 26 atolls that make up the Maldives, which is why it’s seen to be such a dream location for relaxing in the sun.
Stunning beaches and calm waters that are teeming with marine life are a major feature, with the islands being a haven for diving.
Even your transfer from the airport will be an experience, with the option of either travelling by speedboat if staying close to the main international airport, or of boarding a seaplane to fly out to your island.
You also don’t need to worry that a trip to the Maldives will break the bank either.
Although it’s true that you could spend a small fortune on the very best private accommodation sitting above the ocean, and dine on top class cuisine in restaurants that sit below the surface of the water, there are a number of more cost-effective options appearing that have opened up the Maldives to everyone.
So whether you are looking for romance on a honeymoon or simply want to make a summer holiday that extra bit special, the Maldives is a destination that is sure to deliver.
