Walk of Fame

The Walk of Fame is one of the top tourist attractions in Los Angeles, and provides the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of some of the most famous names in the film industry. Dating back to the late 1950s, the Walk of Fame now honours more than 2,000 legendary figures from the entertainment industry – including actors, musicians, directors and producers. A number of fictional characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog and the Simpsons, are also honoured.

Universal Studios Hollywood

You don’t have to be a film lover to enjoy a trip to Universal Studios, which is one of the oldest studios still in use to this day. You can go behind the scenes to the heart of the action on a special tour of the studios, enjoy the chance to sample a selection of rides and might even meet some famous characters from both the small and big screen – from The Simpsons and Curious George to Shrek and The Minions.

Santa Monica Pier

The famous Santa Monica Pier is around half an hour away from the heart of Los Angeles and is somewhere that you would do well to visit during a break in the city. Opened back in 1909, the pier is home to the Pacific Park Theme Park as well as a range of restaurants and pubs, with an aquarium located beneath.

Dolby Theatre

Located on Hollywood Bouelvard, the Dolby Theatre only opened back in 2001 but has quickly become one of the most famous sites in LA thanks to its role as the home of the annual Academy Awards. As well as hosting various shows every year, the theatre is open for special tours that include the chance to visit the Dolby Lounge and to see an actual Oscar® statuette

Disneyland Resort

Mention a trip to Disney during a holiday in the USA and most people immediately think of Florida, but the Disneyland Resort in California actually opened nearly 20 years before Walt Disney World arrived on the scene in the 1970s. Home to both Disneyland Park and the Disney California Adventure, visitors of all ages are sure to enjoy a fun-fuelled adventure during their time within the resort, which also houses various restaurants and shopping options.

Griffith Observatory

The Griffith Observatory sits on the slopes of Mount Hollywood within Griffith Park and is one of the top tourist attractions within the city of Los Angeles. Visitors to the observatory can enjoy the opportunity to take in stunning views of LA below and also of the nearby Hollywood Sign before spending time exploring the various space and science themed exhibits within.

Getty Centre

Lovers of the arts will love the chance to visit the Getty Centre, which houses a varied collection of artworks from a number of different periods of time – including works by van Gogh and Gauguin. The tree-lined walkways of the gardens are just as popular, with more than 500 different species of plants and various fountains waiting to be discovered.

Nethercutt Collection

The Nethercutt Collection is located around half an hour from the centre of Los Angeles and provides a fascinating trip through years gone by. Opened by JB Nethercutt in the early 1970s, the collection features a range of rare cars dating from 1898 through the late 1990s as well as a restored steam locomotive whilst there is also a collection of musical instruments and various antiques that can explored during a special tour.
