Koh Samui

Travel to Koh Samui with us

Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s largest islands and also one of the most popular for anyone considering the country for their HOT Holiday in the sun.

Located off the Eastern coast, Koh Samui is something of an island paradise where you can relax on white sandy beaches, take a refreshing dip in clear blue waters and embrace natural beauty at every turn.

With plenty of world-class resorts, it isn’t hard to see why the island is so often the choice for honeymooners or those simply searching for a little touch of romance.

Koh Samui is one of those destinations where there isn’t really a bad time to visit, but the nature of the weather in and around Thailand means there are periods of the year when things will be more in your favour.

Early in the year is when you are likely to find plenty of sun and lower levels of rain, with the rainy season occurring during late autumn and into winter.

There is little doubt that the coastal areas are the major draw for those heading for Koh Samui, and there are plenty of beaches on which to embrace the weather conditions and top up the tan.

One of the most popular is Chaweng, a four-mile long beach that is located on the east coast that is famed for powdery white sand but which is surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants for grabbing a bite to eat or a refreshing drink.

The crescent shaped beach at Lamai is also popular, whilst you can enjoy some peace and quiet if you head for the likes of Taling Ngam and Samrong Beach.

Away from the beaches, you could spend some time at the waterfalls of Na Muang or explore some of Koh Samui’s religious sites – such as Wat Phra Yai and Wat Plai Laem.

On Koh Samui, it is also possible to go trekking with elephants through the island landscapes, to snorkel on impressive reefs teeming with marine life, to marvel at traditional martial arts displays and – of course – to sample some top class Thai cuisine.

Head for Koh Samui and you really will enjoy an island adventure that will live long in the memory.

Things To Do

Na Muang

The impressive falls at Na Muang are within easy reach of Nathon and can be accessed via a walking trail through forest landscapes. As well as marveling at the sight of water cascading down the two falls, you can also cool off by taking a dip in one of the various plunges pools.

Wat Phra Yai

Wat Phra Yai sits on a small island just off the coast of Koh Samui but can be accessed with ease via a causeway. The Buddhist temple is home to a huge gold-painted Buddha statue and is one of the top attractions on the island – and one that is certainly worth exploring.

Luang Pho Daeng

Luang Pho Daeng was a Buddhist monk who died whilst meditating back in 1973. Ahead of his death, the monk had requested that his body be put on display and the ‘Mummy Monk’ can be now be seen at the Wat Khunaram temple.

Wat Plai Laem

The temple of Wat Plai Laem is a modern building that features a statue of Guanyin – the goddess of compassion and mercy. An elaborate statue featuring the goddess, with 18 arms, sets the temple apart from others found across Koh Samui.

Chaweng Beach

Chaweng Beach is one of the busiest resorts on the island of Koh Samui and is one of the go to places if you want to enjoy a good night out. Head for the Green Mango strip and there are plenty of bars where you can enjoy a drink, whilst there are no shortage of options when you want to grab a bite to eat.

Elephant Sanctuary

Koh Samui Elephant Sanctuary sits within 10 acres of forest land and is a sanctuary for retired elephants who had previously worked in the logging or tourist industries. Visit the sanctuary and you’ll be able to feed and walk with the elephants whilst also watching them bathe and relax.
