Big Island Hawaii

Travel to Big Island Hawaii with us

You won’t be shocked by the fact that Big Island Hawaii is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands - and by some margin.

Not as densely populated as the likes of Oahu, the Big Island is home to a number of secluded beaches where you can marvel at the scenic beauty of the coastline.

One of those - Punaluu - is somewhat unique in that the sand is jet black to reflect the volcanic nature of the island, and is a place where you may be lucky enough to see green sea turtles basking in the sun.

Alongside lush valleys, the Wailuku River State Park features stunning waterfalls that you can visit on a hike - including the 80 foot high Rainbow Falls - whilst the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo is worth a visit in the heart of the rainforest and is free to enter.

The Big Island is home to one of the most active volcanoes on earth - Kilauea - and you can’t visit the island without spending some time exploring the vast Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

There are countless hiking trails, a special visitors centre and even the opportunity to take a drive around the rim of the Kilauea crater - leading to it being referred to as a 'drive in' volcano in some quarters.
