You can’t have failed to notice that chaos has gripped the UK after the arrival of snow, with traffic at a standstill and weather warnings in force across much of the country.

It’s funny how a few inches of the white stuff can cause such misery for those trying to go about their daily business and – aside from the kids who are enjoying a day off school to build a snowman – the arrival of snow is generally greeted with disdain by those faced with disruption.

Compare the kind of snow we get in Britain to the snow you can find overseas, and the simple fact is that there is no real contest.

Whereas we invariably get something akin to frozen slush, the kind of snow you can expect to find overseas if what we’d refer to as the proper stuff, providing the opportunity to hit the slopes and make the most of the winter conditions.

So if you want to swap our wet slush for true snow that it’s actually fun to be in, we thought we’d dig out three options for an overseas trip…

Val d’Isere - France

Located in the south of France close to the border with Italy, Val d’Isere is a popular resort thanks to the snow that is guaranteed every winter.

In fact, the skiing conditions are so good that the resort regularly hosts World Cup events and even hosted the World Championships back in 2009.

With the ability to generate artificial snow if required, you can expect to enjoy first class skiing throughout the year.

You can also select from a range of impressive accommodation options that provide somewhere to relax after a day on the slopes.

Verbier – Switzerland

With the top lift heading to more than 3,000m, you can enjoy first rate skiing in the popular Swiss resort of Verbier.

Around two and a half hours from Geneva, the resort is easily accessible and a popular one with British travellers who want to take on the challenge of the various runs that cater for skiers of all levels.

With snow pretty much assured, a fun day on the slopes can then be followed by an evening making the most of the bustling nightlife.

Whistler – Canada

Whistler in Canada is another ski resort that is popular with British travellers, and one of the largest to be found in North America.

Powder snow can be expected towards the top of the slopes, which are accessed through gondolas, and there is plenty of accommodation available within the purpose built resort.

The quality of the skiing can be seen in the fact that Whistler played host to a wide range of events at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Of course there are plenty of other options for a break that will include some snow, so why not give us a call on 01332 920171 to see what we have to offer…
