Whilst we love a holiday in the sun, we also like to try something new from time to time, we enjoy trying something new when it comes to our annual break overseas.
Like a lot of people, we also love wildlife so we thought why not combine the two and book a break that allows you to get close to nature?
With that in mind, here’s six destinations you might want to bear in mind…
Africa:
The obvious option if you want to seek out wildlife is to head for Africa, with the likes of Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and South Africa all providing endless opportunities to get close to some of nature’s most majestic animals.
Game reserves like the Maasai Mara, Serengeti, Kruger and Kalahari National Parks are the place to go to see a huge array of wildlife – from lions and leopard, to elephant and giraffes.
In particular, the chance to see the Big Five – African elephant, black rhino, cape buffalo, African lion and African leopard – is something that is not to be missed.
Canada:
Canada is another fantastic option for anyone who wants to embrace wildlife in its natural environment.
No matter where you head, you are sure to enjoy the opportunity to get close to nature, from polar bears in the snow covered region of Manitoba to grizzly bears in British Columbia, and from beluga whales in the waters around Quebec to moose in the forests.
If fact, Canada may well provide more opportunities to get close to wildlife than you could possibly have imagined.
Galapagos Islands:
The isolated group of islands that make up the Galapagos Isles are famed for their biodiversity and are home to a varied selection of species.
Eco-tourism has a big part to play in the islands, with the chance to see creatures like the famous Galapagos tortoise, the marine iguana and penguins - which can be found along cooler coasts.
The protected islands really are somewhere that have to be seen to be believed.
Australia:
Australia is so vast that you can expect to see a huge selection of wildlife if you decide to take the long trip Down Under.
From the marine life to be found along the Queensland coast surrounding the Great Barrier Reef, to the mammals that give Kanagaroo Island its name, you can expect to see all manner of wildlife.
Of course, no trip to Australia would be complete with seeing a koala, whilst you could even see the famous Tasmanian Devil if you strike it lucky.
Sri Lanka:
The island of Sri Lanka is one of the best places to go if you want to see wildlife living in its natural surroundings.
A range of safari tours provides the chance to see creatures like leopards and elephants in the wild, whilst the island is also something of a haven for birds.
The biodiversity found across the island is second to none, with much of the country being protected to ensure that the wildlife is able to flourish.
Iceland:
It might not come to mind as a go to destination for a wildlife break, but Iceland provides an interesting alternative to the norm.
If you love ornithology, then it’s a destination that may appeal with plenty of opportunity to see a varied selection of birds – such as the puffin, which you can seek out on a wide range of special excursions.
Dolphins and whales may also be spotted off the coast.
