For some time, Tenerife has been a popular option for Brits heading overseas for some time in the sun.
Millions of us head to the island on a yearly basis but why is it such a popular choice?
Here’s our top six reasons why we’re such fans…
Beaches:
Tenerife is home to a large number of popular beaches that are ideal for lying back and topping up the tan.
Not all of them are packed with golden sands, with some reflecting the volcanic nature of the island and featuring darker sands as a result.
Whilst a number of beaches around some of the top resorts are man made, you’d be well advised to also head off the beaten track if the chance arises to see some of the more natural delights that are hidden away and you may otherwise miss.
Sun, sun and more sun
:Because Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands and sits off the coast of Africa, you can expect decent weather no matter what time of year you travel.
For that reason, it’s the perfect option for a break outside the traditional holiday seasons where you can still enjoy some sun – although obviously a winter break brings with it more chance of also encountering some rain.
Family Friendly:
Tenerife is a great option if you are travelling with the family, given that there are loads of attractions that will appeal to all ages. That includes the huge Thai-themed waterpark Siam Park, as well as Loro Parque – a huge zoo that houses a range of animal and plant species.
Scenery:
Most people head for Tenerife because of the weather, but there are plenty of scenic sights that await if you decide to head away from the beach and explore inland. Chief amongst the natural attractions on the island is the Teide National Park that surrounds Mount Teide.
Convenience:
You don’t have to worry about a long flight if you want to enjoy the sun in Tenerife, given the fact that it’s little more than four hours away from the UK. You can also find a flight from most airports – making it simple and straightforward when it comes to travelling.
Variety
:Given how popular Tenerife is with overseas visitors, it should come as no surprise that the island has a wide and varied list of accommodation options that caters for all tastes and budgets – from five star, all inclusive hotels to smaller studios for those with less money to spend.
