Kamari may be a small town on the coast of Santorini but it certainly isn’t one you should overlook.

Located on the east coast within easy reach of the airport, Kamari is famous for one of the best beaches to be found anywhere on the island.

Reflecting the volcanic nature of the island, the Blue Flag rated beach is packed with dark sand and pebbles and is home to plenty of parasols where you can lie back and make the most of the favourable weather conditions that are to be expected throughout the year.

As is the case around the coast, a selection of watersports can be enjoyed in the calm and clear waters off the coast.

Despite the small nature of the resort, Kamari is home to a varied selection of hotels to cater for a wide range of budgets and which are suitable for couples and families alike.

Within the town, you’ll find a selection of old traditional taverns and restaurants for grabbing a drink or some food, with entertainment on an evening including the chance to listen to live music or to catch a DJ.

It’s evening entertainment that is best described as lively rather than loud.

Souvenir hunters can visit the local shops, although there are only limited options within the town – meaning you might need to make the short trip to the capital Thira for some retail therapy.

Kamari is also home to one of the most unique experiences to be found on Santorini, with an open-air cinema on the outskirts of town being the place to catch a movie under the stars on an evening.
