Travel to Las Palmas with us

As one of Spain’s largest cities, it should come as little surprise that Las Palmas is a popular destination for overseas visitors to Gran Canaria.

Located to the north east of the island less than half an hour away from the airport, the resort provides the chance to enjoy everything that the island has to offer but without missing out on the experiences afforded by the big cities.

Although there are numerous beaches, the ones at Las Canteras and Las Alcaravaneras are the most popular; with the latter sitting alongside a busy promenade.

Here, you can get hold of food and drinks whilst also sampling a range of sports.

Away from the beach, Las Palmas is home to a range of cultural and historical sites, which include the Cathedral of Santa Ana and the Centre of Modern Art.

The Church of San Juan Bautista and the Bandama National Monument are also just a short trip away.

Add to the mix the bars and restaurants that will provide entertainment every evening, and accommodation to suit all budgets, and Las Palmas’ appeal will be clear.

Things To Do

Relax on the beach

As with the other main resorts on the island, Las Palmas is home to an impressive stretch of beach and Las Canteras is a great place to lie back and enjoy the sunshine. You’re sure to be able to top up your tan whilst the calm waters are also ideal for those who want to try their hand at snorkeling and marvel at the marine life that is found around a shallow reef just off the beach.

Caldera de Bandama

Located less than half an hour away from Las Palmas, the Caldera de Bandama is one of the most dramatic sites to be found on the island of Gran Canaria. Standing more than 3000 feet high, the edge of the Caldera provides stunning views of the surrounding area and on a good day, you can even see as far as Fuerteventura. Should you wish, you can hike down into the crater to explore the green landscapes.

Dine around the world

There are plenty of traditional dishes available in restaurants across Las Palmas, but the resort is a great place for foodies because of the variety that found in eateries that offer dishes from around the globe – with everything from pasta and pizza to sushi. As in other resorts, seafood is particularly popular and the catch of the day is a regular feature on menus.

Pueblo Canaria

Situated in the heart of Las Palmas, the Pueblo Canaria is designed to replicate a traditional Canarian village in the middle of the capital city. Be treated to live folk music in the streets, sample traditional food and visit the Museo Néstor – which exhibits the works of Canarian artist Néstor de la Torre.
