Laganas is one of the 'go to' destinations for anyone who elects to visit the island of Zante for their annual HOT Holiday in the sun.

Like many resorts across the Mediterranean, Laganas was once a small fishing village but has developed through the years to become a top class tourist destination welcoming visitors from all over the world.

A large part of the appeal of Laganas comes from the bustling nightlife, with much of the entertainment that takes place after dark being centered on a mile-long street that is home to the main bars and clubs.

Here, you can dance the night away if you so desire or simply let your hair down with friends after day relaxing on the beach.

That beach is the other big plus when it comes to a break in Laganas, with the long stretch of sand being one of the best on the island.

It’s not the busiest beach in terms of activities with only limited watersports off the coast but that is with good reason, as Laganas is the place where Zante’s famous loggerhead turtles come to nest.

As a result, the beaches around Laganas are better suited to those who simply want to relax in the sun, with every effort being made not to disturb the wildlife.

Should you wish to see the turtles, there is plenty of opportunity to do so, including on a boat cruising along the coast.

You might also want to take the opportunity to visit the capital city, also named Zante, where there is plenty of shopping options as well as the chance to explore some of the island’s history.
