Kalamaki sits on the southern coast of Zante and is another resort where relaxation and taking things easy is the order of the day.

The traditional Greek village with Mount Skopos on one side and the Ionian Sea on the other is surrounded by picture postcard scenery of olive groves and a stunning sandy beach that stretches for 5km along the coast.

That beach is ideal for lying back under the Mediterranean sun, with warm and inviting waters for those who want to take a refreshing dip.

Youngster in particular will enjoy the fact that the waters are both calm and warm; ideal for a quick paddle or swim.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get chance to see Zante’s famous loggerhead turtles coming ontot eh beach to lay their eggs – providing the opportunity to marvel at nature at its best.

Alongside the beach there are plenty of bars and restaurants, but it’s not party central for those who want to dance the night away.

Instead, the laid back vibe is ideal for families – with plenty of activities across the resort and in the surrounding hotels to keep children entertained.

Of particular interest to children – both young and old – will be the opportunity to take a trip on a glass bottomed boat to seek out the turtles, and any other marine life found below the surface of the waves.
