Travel to California with us

There are plenty of states in the USA that you could choose to visit on holiday, and California is one that should certainly feature highly on the list.

Across the state, there is something to cater for everyone, from the scenic delights of the rugged Pacific Coast and the stunning beauty of no fewer than nine National Parks.

Yosemite National Park is arguably the most famous of those nine with many people heading for Yosemite Valley - a glacial valley surrounded by towering peaks that is accessed via the scenic Tunnel View viewpoint on Route 41.

Here, there are countless hiking trails that provide the chance to get close to nature, with the park being home to a varied range of different species of flora and fauna.

The Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks are just as a picturesque with rolling hills and forests, whilst at the other end of the scale, Death Valley - close to the border with Nevada - is famous for sand dunes and salt flats and for being the place where the hottest air temperature ever was recorded.

To the south of California, you can visit theme parks including Universal Studios and Disneyland, explore the delights of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, or hit the beaches of Malibu and Santa Monica.

Travel further north with a trip up the Pacific Coast Highway and colourful and cosmopolitan San Francisco awaits, which is something of a bucket list destination for many people taking a trip Stateside.

A major draw of the Golden State is the fact that it is very much a year round destination, with the warm dry summers catering for those who want to explore the sites, but the cooler winter months bringing in a different kind of visitor.

Places like Lake Tahoe for example become something of a winter wonderland, with ski fans flocking to the region to hit the slopes in their droves.

As a state that could almost be tailor made for holidays, you can’t fail to have a good time on a visit to California. It’s just a case of deciding where you want to go…

Things To Do

Visit the theme parks

California is packed with a number of top quality theme parks, which include the original Disney theme park and the first Universal Studios attraction. In fact, there are so many different parks of all sizes - and suitable for all ages - across California that you won’t know where to head for next.

Relax on the beach

Part of the appeal of California is that it is home to some fantastic stretches of coastline that are amongst the most impressive anywhere in the United States. Some are well known - such as Santa Monica, Malibu and Long Beach - but there are plenty of hidden treasures as you venture further north, particularly through the Big Sur region.

Hit the Road

California is home to one of the top road trips in the USA, with the Pacific Coast Highway running along the coast. It’s a great way to take in some of the scenic sites between San Francisco and Los Angeles and it’s well worth hiring a car to explore if at all possible.

Explore historical landmarks

There are plenty of historical landmarks within California that are worth checking out, and there is certainly something to cater for all tastes at the same time. The famous old prison on the island of Alcatraz, the iconic Hollywood sign, the former gold rush town of Bodie and the Pasadena Rose Bowl are four examples that show how varied the options are.
